Referrals Team

1. If you are sending a referral to a specialist on Rocket Doctor and have questions about the referral status, please check the patient's chart. All steps are documented there (when fax was sent, triage information, when appointment is booked, etc.). Further questions can be directed to: specialists@rocketdoctor.io

2. If you are sending a referral to a specialist outside of Rocket Doctor and have questions about the referral status, please check the patient's chart. All steps are documented there (when fax was sent, triage information, when appointment is booked, etc.). Further questions can be directed to: referrals@rocketdoctor.io

The provider’s responsibility is to generate a referral that meets the requirements outlined by their provincial licensing authority.

  • Urgent referrals are managed within 24 hours of receipt.
  • No referral will wait more than 96 hours before being first managed.
  • All referrals are followed up at 2 weeks to confirm they have been accepted. If they have not been accepted, the team follows up with the specialist to confirm receipt and if the referral will be accepted.

The provider is informed, via the chart that the referral has been accepted. If the referral was directed to a specific consultant and is refused, the provider is asked where they would like the referral redirected.

If the provider did not specify a consultant, the referral team redirects to the appropriate first available consultant, with preference given to specialists on the platform. As above, all actions are documented in the patient chart.
