Address Requirement
Rocket Doctor is not a clinic, and its corporate address must not be used for lab setup. Instead, if you do not have an alternate clinical address, consider using a mail-forwarding service or a PO Box. Avoid using software platform addresses (e.g., OSCAR, Telus PSS, Accuro) as your clinic address.
Understanding Lab Requisitions in Alberta
Laboratory requisitions in Alberta fall into two categories:
Hospital Requisitions:
- Completed through Connect Care and routed to your Connect Care in-basket.
Community Requisitions:
- The work you do on Rocket Doctor falls under community laboratory requisitions.
- The entire province now operates under a unified system for lab orders.
- If you are a registered practitioner in Alberta, you were provided a Provider ID when Connect Care was introduced.
- To receive lab results, you must request your own Submitter ID for use with Rocket Doctor.
Provider & Submitter ID Definitions
- Provider ID: A unique ID assigned to each provider, used across all locations.
- Submitter ID: Identifies the clinic or practice location where lab tests are ordered and results are routed.
As a practitioner, you may have multiple Submitter IDs for different practice locations. When working on Rocket Doctor, you function as your own clinic and need to request a Submitter ID accordingly.
