Results Management:
It is the responsibility of the physician/provider to follow up on any test results. The Provider will receive an email notification when a result arrives in their inbox. Our clinical support team is available to assist in identifying urgent results and sending a secondary email notification to the physician/provider as an added precaution. However, it is ultimately the physician/provider's responsibility to review and manage the result appropriately.
Currently, the clinical support team is unable to generate or clarify prescriptions for BC patients. This may change after the CPSBC reviews Physician Assistant (PA) licensing.
- If a result is felt to be potentially life-threatening, then the team will send an email to the physician/provider and alert the Physician Assistant team. Using their best clinical judgment, the PA team then follows up with the physician.
- The clinical support team's target is to review all results within 16 hours, and no result waits more than 24. All actions taken are documented in the patient chart.
- Requisitions and imaging requests (i.e sleep studies, CT/MRI, etc) are triaged and completed within 72 hours from when the team receives them. Copies of completed requisitions will be found in the patient's chart.
