BC DoctorCare Onboarding – Step-by-Step Guide
Now that your Starship account has been activated, it’s time to set up your billing account through our integration with DoctorCare.
Once your setup is complete, each BC appointment in your MD Portal will display a “NEW BILLING” button, allowing you to quickly submit claims directly from the platform.
What is ClinicAid?
ClinicAid is the billing platform connected to our EMR. It automatically receives your claim details from the EMR. You can log in to view your billing reports, see any rejections, and check the status of your claims.
What is DoctorCare?
DoctorCare is our billing support partner. They review your claims in ClinicAid, correct any errors, submit them to the MSP, and flag any issues to ensure your claims are correctly paid. For more information, click here.
Billing Fees
DoctorCare charges a $0.60 per-claim fee, which covers claim review, submission, and support. This fee is invoiced directly through DoctorCare and appears on your monthly billing statement. There are no setup fees or monthly minimums; you’re only charged for the claims you submit.
Step 1: Activate your ClinicAid account
- You’ll receive a Welcome to ClinicAid email (we’re CC’d).
- Follow the link to create your password and log in once to confirm access.
- Please email providersuccess.ca@rocketdoctor.io if you have not received it.
What to expect:
- Once you’ve activated your account, DoctorCare will provide Rocket Doctor with two unique IDs for the billing integration between our systems.
- Rocket Doctor will configure both IDs in your MD Portal for you; no action is required on your end.
Step 2: Connect to Teleplan
To connect your billing to ClinicAid’s data centre (Teleplan Data Centre Number T9181), MSP requires a signed authorization form.
- Download & sign the attached MSP Payee Authorization Form: Application for Teleplan- ClinicAid
- Fax the completed form to 250-405-3592.
- You can fax directly from Starship / MD Portal: Send tab.
- Email providersuccess.ca@rocketdoctor.io to confirm you’ve sent it.
Step 3: Confirm Your EMR Billing Settings (Starship / MD Portal)
- Log into the MD Portal/Starship (Rocket Doctor EMR).
- If you provide Longitudinal Family Practice (LFP), make sure your facility number is saved in your provider settings.
- For fee-for-service (FFS) visits, no facility number is required.
Step 4: Confirm Completion
- Mark BC Billing as complete on your onboarding task list. ✅
- Email providersuccess.ca@rocketdoctor.io to let us know you’ve finished all steps. Our team will verify your setup and confirm you’re ready to bill.
🎉 Now that your setup is complete…
When you see your first patient, billing will already be ready to go:
- In the MD Portal/ STARSHIP, click NEW BILLING and submit the appropriate billing code and diagnostic code.
- The claim will be routed to ClinicAid, where DoctorCare will review and correct it before submitting it to the MSP.
- If you had appointments before your setup was finalized, you can still submit those claims retroactively once your account is active.
